For Christmas decorating, this unique item comes in two parts. The top is cut from 3/4-inch pine wood. The base layer is white chalk paint. Using an artist medium, a color laser printed image from a Victorian postcard was permanently transferred to the wood, sanded, stained and then sealed. This image is not decoupaged and there's no paper remaining on or around the image; it was printed in reverse onto paper and transferred to the wood in a manner similar to a decal before the paper was removed.
The wooden part measures about 6-inches high and 3-3/8 inches across. A wrought iron square nail is inserted into the bottom front which holds or the accompanying drawstring bag (or it can hold a set of joined hanging candles as well.) The item hangs from a length of 19 gauge dark annealed wire.
The drawstring ditty bag is made from muslin and the image is also a transfer from a laser printer. The bag measures about 7 by 5-1/2 inches. The image features Santa Claus and Christmas greeting. A sprig of Sweet Annie is tucked into the bag.
Overall, when the bag is hung on the nail the piece measures about 16-inches (including the wire hanger.) A fun and unusual piece for Christmas decorating, this item was handcrafted by us here at Little Coon Creek using all new materials. Both the wooden hanger and the drawstring bag are included.
